Subject: Release of US CMS Cost and Schedule Procedures

I am today releasing the initial non-draft version of the US
CMS Cost and Schedule Procedures, together with a set of
Microsoft Excel templates for the WBS and cost estimates.

The procedures consist of a Microsoft Word document plus 5
Microsoft Excel appendices. In addition, template versions
of the appendices are available. The procedures document and
five appendices are also available as postscript files.

The files may be copied via afs, ftp, DECnet, and
AppleShare.

afs:
The files are in the fnal.gov afs cell, in directory
/afs/fnal.gov/files/home/room1/hanlon/us-cms/pub/us-cms_cs

ftp:
The files may be retrieved via anonymous ftp (user name
anonymous, any password) to tsmac1.fnal.gov, in directory
/Public/us-cms_cs

DECnet:
The files may be copied via DECnet from
HEPNET::[INFO.WWW-DATA.US-CMS.PUB.US-CMS_CS]
The Postscript files may be copied with the DCL command:
        $ COPY HEPNET::[INFO.WWW-DATA.US-CMS.PUB.US-CMS_CS.PS]*.PS *

AppleShare (Fermilab site only):
From the Macintosh Chooser, select AppleShare in the MAIN
ETHERNET AppleTalk Zone. Select the TSS Macintosh Server
from the list on the right, connect as a Guest user, and
select the Public volume. The files are in the us-cms_cs
folder.

Within the us-cms_cs directory there are three
subdirectories: mac, ps, and txt. Within the Mac
subdirectory, there are the five Excel templates, as well as
the document and appendices, all in native Macintosh format.
The ps subdirectory contains PostScript versions of the
document and appendices, and the txt subdirectory contains
text versions (rtf for the Word document, and tab-separated
text for the spreadsheets).

I will be absent from the Laboratory (and out of e-mail
contact) for the period July 2 - July 31. Hank Glass
(glass@fnalv.fnal.gov) has both paper and floppy-disk copies
of the procedures and templates, and is available to help if
you have difficulty retrieving the files. A number of copies
of the Cost and Schedule Procedures have also been left with
Dan Green on WH7W.

Cost/schedule coordinators still need to be identified for
the endcap muon and DAQ/software groups. I would like to
perform a preliminary cost roll-up with the combined data in
mid-August.
